Methodology

To assess the energy performance of your property an energy assessor needs to visit the property and will:

  • establish the age of  the property along with the age of any extensions that may have been added
  • measure the property  to establish the heat loss perimeter
  • enter the loft (if possible) to measure any loft insulation present
  • make a note of the method of heating the property and the water
  • check for energy efficient light bulbs in fixed light fittings
This data is then enterered on to a system which uses a Reduced Data Standard Assessment Process to produce a certificate showing a grade from A to G.

The visit normally takes about an hour and it is helpful if the owner or a representative is present but this is not always necessary.
